A different kind of event space.

A different kind of event rental.

Our multi-story ~7,000sqft guildhall is a stand alone building in central Manhattan (easily accessible by subway, bus, and car) featuring: a large ADA ground floor space, on-site catering options, multiple spaces on our 2nd and 3rd floors for a variety of different use cases, and cooperative members that commit their time and energy to ensure a successful event.

Every event we host is directly supported by at least one of our cooperative members, who bring their own expertise and skillset to support you in creating an unforgettable experience for your team, your guests, and/or your community. We approach each event client as a partnership, even if you only need us to unlock the door for you.

Host an extraordinary event. Partner with a grassroots community.

  • Weddings & Anniversary Parties

The kinds of people who have hosted their weddings at our guildhall are the kind of people who see these celebrations as, first and foremost, a way to bring their loved ones together in community. To that end, we have hosted the earnest traditional wedding ceremony as well as the completely original “take-over-the-whole-building-for-10-hours-and-host-nonstop-workshops-facilitated-by-our-friends-while-the-wedding-bands-are-forged-in-front-of-a-live-audience” kind of wedding. We joyfully welcome all of it. And, yes, we have NY certified marriage officiants available.

We regularly host readings/rehearsals, art exhibitions, and full scale productions of all kinds. Moreover, our membership includes people who balance a their professional expertise in the performing arts world with a healthy dose of “let’s get weird.” Let us work with you to devise the best way to blow people’s minds. From immersive experiences (developed by former Sleep No More cast members) to groundbreaking hybrid one-woman shows to participatory art installations to surrealist dance experiences, we delight in supporting people who make a practice of baring their souls for their audiences.

  • Conferences, Summits, & Symposiums

This building and our cooperative membership have hosted all manner of gatherings focused around different communities and the practices that bring them together— we’re no stranger to panels, multi-day conferences, and group exhibitions. From cybernetics to death/dying to cooperatives, we are just as excited about supporting your group’s logistical event needs as we are nerding out about your specific subject matter (however esoteric it might be!) Moreover, many of our members have supported these kinds of events more directly, from emceeing to facilitating to running workshops. Also our on-site cafe makes food/beverage a breeze and the additional rooms upstairs make for perfect breakout rooms. If you have a program you think is mission-aligned, definitely let us know!

  • Corporate Off-sites, Teambuilding, & Retreats

Need to get out your team out of the office? EVENT INQUIRY FORM

We are a cooperatively run community center. Unlike a traditional event rental space, we do not have a special events staff; all event hosting labor is heartfully managed and shouldered by members of our cooperative. All incoming event inquiries are vetted and coordinated by our Event Committee.

After our events review, we will reach out to you with any clarifying questions and to schedule a visit if your event is a good fit for our space. We evaluate event submissions based on the availability of the space, the availability of a member host, and to ensure that events hosted in the space are not at odds with our co-op’s mission. That said, we cast a wide net in an effort to promote diversity in our space. Our rates are reflective of the services we offer and the costs of keeping our building open!

Our Events Committee meets weekly, so you should generally expect to hear back regarding your inquiry within 1 week, although sometimes it may take 2 weeks. Thanks for your understanding!

Please note that our 2nd and 3rd floors are not wheelchair accessible. We hope someday that we have the funds to remediate this problem, but until then only our ground floor is arguably accessible.
